Linda Day Endorses Green Party's Wes Regan for Vancouver East

The election is just around the corner and we have come a long way in a few short months. Today we know that not only does Vancouver East solidly support me as a Green Party Candidate, but the staff and volunteers and I truly feel we can win this! To help make that happen I am so honoured to announce my first endorsement from Linda Day, Executive Director of the Aboriginal Mother Centre Society, located in Hastings Sunrise right above our beloved CFRO 100.5 FM Co-op Radio Station.

"As a First Nations woman who cares deeply about my people and the seven generations still to come, I strongly endorse Wes Regan as MP for Vancouver East because I know that Wes has the heart and strength to bring all of our diverse communities forward in a sustainable and equitable way for the benefit of all! Not only that, but the Assembly of First Nations is on record stating that the Green Party is the only party that embodies First Nations core values, and encourages us to vote Green!

As for me, Wes Regan is the only choice for MP in East Van! He will fight tirelessly for future generations to enjoy a Green Canada!"

All my Relations, Linda Day

As the federal election campaign has unfolded it has become clear that the Green Party of Canada stands firm in solidarity and partnership with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. Whether it is our clear and consistent stance against pipelines, fracking and tankers that threaten communities and wildlife habitats, or the demonstration of our Political Imagination in our commitment to addressing the injustices of our colonial past (and present) as we put forward ideas like the Council of Canadian Governments, while recognizing and respecting unconditionally, treaty, title and ancestral lands.

As Grand Chief Perry Bellegarde stated: "The Green Party platform is consistent with the call for First Nations to be part of the decision-making process in this country." In our East Van communities there are a number of First Nations leaders that I have worked directly with or who have taken note of my work and my voice in this part of our city. Linda Day is one of them and we are excited to announce her endorsement, the first of this campaign.

We have little more than a week to go and we are truly excited. As your candidate I can already tell you that I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished here. We began with no money, no infrastructure and just a handful of volunteers and have managed to build an incredible campaign. This is real grassroots politics at work, powered by community organizing, capacity building and some serious elbow grease and creativity. I am deeply grateful to Linda for her endorsement and very deliberately wanted to lead our series of endorsements with her voice first.
