Community activist, public intellectual, candidate for City Council and now for Provincial MLA, I'm blessed to call Pete Fry a friend and colleague. I've known Pete for nearly 20 years, back when he was on the editorial team of Terminal City Magazine the bands I played in would contact Terminal City to promote our gigs. It wasn't until he and I served on the Downtown Eastside Local Area Planning Committee together that we really became close friends and allies in the interest of our respective East Van communities. Pete was Chair of the Strathcona Residents Association while I was Executive Director of the Hastings Crossing BIA, and I quickly learned just how thoughtfully and thoroughly Pete approached his work. I also saw firsthand just how dedicated Pete is to the health and wellbeing of the communities in East Van that he has called home for so long.
"I feel fortunate to live in Vancouver East: a riding where I can vote for the kind of Member of Parliament I want to represent us, rather than vote against the candidate I don’t want.
I am unreservedly endorsing Wes Regan because I know him to be a smart, articulate, and passionate advocate who will bring a thoughtful and collaborative approach to issues in our riding and our Parliament. Wes and I have worked together in some politically nuanced and challenging environments, and I've been impressed with his empathy, ability to think on his feet, and willingness to work towards consensus. In Wes I see real hope for the future of our democracy: he's not only the kind of MP we want, but the kind of MP we need."

Thank you Pete, and best of luck on your upcoming by-election to serve as MLA for Vancouver-Mt. Pleasant!
